Beloved Siblings in Christ,

Thank you to everyone who responded to our recent survey. We were delighted to have received an incredible response to help guide us as we moved forward. One hundred and twenty respondents took the time to share their thoughts and the messages were very clear.

Here are the takeaways:

  • There was a very clear call for an outdoor service option, particularly from parents of unvaccinated young children, but also from those without unvaccinated young children.

  • Parents and caregivers of unvaccinated children are concerned for their safety. They do not want in-person Christian formation for young children.

  • Christian formation for youth and adults should continue inside, as usual.

  • There was concern that inside worship options continue for those who feel safe attending in person.

  • Children and Youth choirs should not start until the virus is more under control.

  • Everyone misses coffee hour! There were many suggestions to begin outside coffee hour again when it is cool enough to do so.

  • Folks are pleased with the mask mandate in the building, but they're also pleased that social distancing is not being enforced

  • The vast majority of respondents do not want to see an indoor Fall Harvest Dinner.

We appreciate your feedback and have made some changes, accordingly:

  • In order to meet the desire for outside worship, and to provide Christian formation for unvaccinated children in a safer environment, Liturgy on the Lot will return on September 5th. This outdoor service at 9:00am will include a child-friendly homily, and a craft after the service.

  • Christian Formation for 6th grade and up, as well as Adults, will resume on September 12th. Classes will be held inside, as usual, at 10:00am.

  • Christian formation for youth ages 3 years to 5th grade will be suspended for the time being.

  • The 7:30am, 11:00am, and 11:05am Church Down Under services will remain inside to accommodate those who prefer not to be outside.

  • Youth and Children's choirs will not resume until January, virus dependent.

  • Coffee hour is coming back! Beginning September 5th (when we hope it's slightly less oppressively hot), coffee hour will take place under the porte cochere at the southwest entrance.

  • The mask mandate in the building will remain in place, and we do not intend to place restrictions for social distancing.

  • Finally, the fall Harvest Dinner has become the Fall Harvest Tailgate! Trying to move a seated, catered event to the parking lot was prohibitively expensive and complicated, so we're shaking it up a little bit with a tailgate. Read more below.

What else is going on? Scroll down to learn about the new Liturgy on the Lot, St. Simeon's Western Days, our upcoming Fall Harvest Tailgate, and to provide address for college care packages.

Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others.
